Heritage Russian at Princeton

Featured Course for Fall 2018: Russian for Heritage Speakers

Do you wonder why your Russian grandmother believes you can catch cold from a draft or if you do not wear slippers in the house?

Then Russian for Heritage Speakers might be for you!
This course is intended for students who were raised in a home where Russian was spoken, who speak or merely understand Russian, who consider themselves to some degree bilingual in English and Russian and wish to improve their language skills as well as to learn more about Russian history, society and culture. The course will start with the intensive introduction to the Russian sound and writing systems, and includes targeted grammar taught through authentic cultural materials – historical documents, literary texts by classical and contemporary Russian authors.
