Topics in Slavic Literatures Other than Russian: 19th and 20th Century Polish Poetry and Prose

Description/Objectives:
In this course we will be reading selected text of Polish literature, beginning with prose and ending with poetry. The texts will be placed against the background of literary history, but we will concentrate on readings in Polish. The course requirement will be class participation (70%), two short papers (5 pages), one for midterm (15%) and one final (15%).
