Intermediate Russian I na, npdf Professor(s): Stanislav Shvabrin Description/Objectives: Major emphasis on the development of vocabulary and oral expression with continuing work on difficult grammar topics. Vocabulary thematically organized to include such topics as self and family, education, work, human relationships, politics, and national attitudes. Includes practice on the etiquette of common social situations. Vocabulary reinforced through film and the reading of classical and contemporary fiction and history. Sample Reading List: F.Miller, O. Kagan, V. Puti , Russian Grammar In Context Reading/Writing Assignments: Readings of various Russian and Soviet short stories and on Russian history. Written work on and oral discussions of a Soviet film. Daily written assignments and short compositions on new vocabulary topics. Requirements/Grading: Final Exam: 15% Quizzes: 40% Precept Participation: 25% Other (See Instructor): 20% Other Requirements: This course is required for Concentrators. Prerequisites and Restrictions: SLA 102/RUS 102 or Permission Of Instructor.
